Wanda W. Hill, LCSW, CSOTP received her Bachelor of Science degree in Humanities and Social Sciences with an emphasis in Women’s Studies from the University of Richmond, and her Master of Social Work degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP).
Ms. Hill began her career at the Saint Joseph’s Villa where she provided direct care services for children with developmental delays and disabilities, and she was promoted to Assistant Program Director within her first year of employment. Upon leaving the Saint Joseph’s Villa and completing her master’s degree, she began providing in-home treatment services to children and families in crisis while employed at the Institute for Family Centered Services.
After completing an internship at the Beaumont Correctional Center, she was hired as a full-time employee with the Department of Juvenile Justice and continued her work as a clinician at Beaumont as well as at the Bon Air Correctional Center. While at those facilities she provided individual, group, and family therapy and reunification to juvenile inmates and their families.
One of her specialties was sex offender treatment. Ms. Hill is experienced at providing sex offender group therapy, individual therapy, covert sensitization and arousal control techniques. Other psycho educational groups she ran included ones for anger management, social skills, parenting skills, and a psychodrama experiential group.
Eventually Ms. Hill left the correctional center to become the Clinical Program Director at Clinical Alternatives, P.C., a private practice in Henrico County. She managed a staff of more than 20 in-home therapists and worked closely with the Department of Social Services, as well as the Court Service Units in several counties. Ms. Hill has provided clinical supervision for graduate students in the fields of social work, psychology, and counseling, as well as supervising professions who were seeking to become Certified Sex Offender Treatment Providers (CSOTP).
For a number of years Ms. Hill was a volunteer at the YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter where she answered hotlines, and offered support services for those women and children living at the shelter. She was also a volunteer at the Elk Hill Farm (a residential adventure challenge program for youths with behavioral problems). While at Elk Hill she provided therapeutic services to the residents and their families to include group, individual, and family therapy services.
When not working, Ms. Hill spends her time engaging in various artistic pursuits such as creating collages, painting on canvas, playing guitar, and writing. She also enjoys touring local vineyards with friends and traveling.
